Current
Tobias Stutz works in a representational style. Residential buildings with strikingly modern architecture are just as much a subject of his work as interior design details and design classics. Perspective – and with it, space and surface – is a constant feature in his paintings. Architecture is not the setting for a narrative, but rather the main protagonist and central subject of the picture, shaped by light and shadow, whilst the surrounding natural landscape merely provides the backdrop. The lighting in the paintings is reminiscent of 19th-century landscape painting and thus further contributes to the elevation of the architecture.
